The 540i is the ultimate sport sedan from the company that invented the class. It's just the right size, has incredible 4.4L V8 performance, beautiful build quality and design, state-of-the-art safety features, very good fuel economy, and it drives like only a BMW can. As you know, 6-speed models are rare and very desirable - particularly with the sport package.

Ordinarily, we might not pursue a car of this age with this mileage, but there's nothing ordinary about this one. 540i Sport 6-speed cars are rare enough, but it's real hard to find them with navigation (the newer Mark III widescreen unit), heated seats, 18" M-Parallels, not to mention Dinan CAI and exhaust (and who knows what else). It's an unusually handsome car - looks better than most you've seen with half it's age and experience. It runs and drives great (like a scalded dog). It's a spectacular car - particularly at this price!

We all seek perfection and often get pretty close. But let's face it - by definition, nothing is ideal. Here's what we see as less than ideal about this particular car:
  • More miles than we'd like to see.
  • The passenger seat switch is damaged (still works).
  • Rear tires are weak.
